Day in Apanemo Hotel & Suites
I had the absolute joy of staying for a while at Apanemo in Akrotiri, and honestly, I can’t recommend it enough. From the moment I arrived, I felt more like I was visiting old friends than checking into a hotel. The staff are some of the kindest, most helpful people I’ve ever met, always smiling, always ready to assist with anything. Nothing ever felt like too much for them. Apanemo is like a tiny village, and really doesn't feel like a hotel, it's quite awesome what the owners did there. And the view… where do I even begin? The Caldera stretched out before me like a painting. I spent quiet afternoons just sitting outside with a glass of wine, soaking it all in. It’s the kind of place that slows time down in the best way. Apanemo is tucked away on the calmer side of Santorini, in the village of Akrotiri, which I personally loved. It’s peaceful, serene, and feels more like real island life. That said, I’d definitely recommend having a car if you’re planning to explore the island easily. I really want to emphasise that Akrotiri is not Fira or Oia. This is a much more relaxed side of the island. To the entire team at Apanemo: thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made me feel completely at home, and this stay is something I’ll never forget. I look forward to seeing you all again.

I stayed here with my mother and neither of us could have imagined how excellent the experience would be, it exceeded all our expectations. They have a variety of options for breakfast(also gluten free), the rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is very friendly and the best of all is the guidance and support they give you throughout your stay, offering transportation to the bus stop and pick you up from the same stop to take us to the hotel, they also offered transportation beyond the stop (for an extra cost). They welcomed us with the best energies and with some drinks from the house, they also gave us a map and the bus schedules so we could know how to get around, the best welcome possible, suddenly you feel centered and at home with that welcome. The hotel restaurant was closed, and since buses to Akrotiri only run until 7 p.m., we thought it would be very difficult to get dinner. Even so, they offered to help us go to a restaurant (they were kind enough to find me a gluten-free option) whenever we needed it. The hotel is a bit far from the bus stop, but it wasn't a problem. It's worth it for the views, which are beautiful from wherever you are.

The staff were exceptional- very helpful- carried bags to room while we had a complimentary drink and "meet and greet" with staff who gave us a map and several excellent recommendations of where to go. The room was beautiful and the views were literally beyond words. Parking was easy and on site! We would definitely recommend this place! We would also recommend this town OVER OIA. The reason is the lighthouse sunset view was truly inspiring! The town and beaches are beautiful- the food and people were amazing. There were no ridiculous crowds and you can enjoy the experience. OIA is beautiful, as is, the entire island. The bigger cities like Oia and Fira were pretty and fun to walk, however, we didn't really spend much time OIA as it was too crowded with a steady stream buses arriving. We travelled in late October so, I can't even imagine what the summer would look like- definitely not our style of travel. We had a car, so drove the island- it is a beautiful place to visit and well worth the ferry ride (which was also beautiful).

The view from our room was breathtaking. The staff is exceptional—truly outstanding. They are incredibly nice and go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable. A thoughtful touch was the takeaway breakfast bag they provided us since we needed to check out early. The pool looked nice (and the view is out of this world), though we couldn't use it due to high winds and not-so-great weather. The location was convenient; we rented a car and easily explored the southern part of the island, which we found to be the best area of Santorini. Driving made it simple to reach Fira and nearby beaches (reachable in 5 to 15 min) . The breakfast was excellent; they give you a menu the day before so you can choose what you'd like. The room was very comfortable. They have a bar with a beautiful view where you can Get drinks and coffee from (also lunch, although we did not try it). Thank you to Heleni, Isabel, and Irias for the warm welcome!

Breakfast was creative & tasty. Selection is made from a menu the day before & brought to your table the next morning, which is efficient given the limited space of the breakfast room. Staff are friendly & eager to please, but we missed interacting with the local owners who had been on scene when we stayed there some years ago. It seems like the labor force on the island are all from somewhere else! The view is phenomenal, but it was very windy & we could not sit at the lovely pool or on our terrace to look at it. We booked a room based on its terrace with caldera view, but had to settle for looking out some small windows.
